In a continual effort to provide improvements to Council assets and increase sporting facilities in the local area, Fairfield City Council nominated Delaney Civil as Head Contractor to deliver the upgrade, extension and associated infrastructure works at Fairfield Showground.

Key Challenges
Delivering Works Within a Tight Program
The project needed to be delivered to an accelerated schedule, with the earthworks component handed over at short notice. Through careful programming, rapid mobilisation and continuous monitoring of progress, our team successfully met the client’s timeline while maintaining quality and resolving emerging issues promptly.
Delivering Cost Savings to the Client Through Effective Management of Electrical Design Issues and Complex Service Upgrades
During delivery, electrical design inconsistencies were identified, alongside the need for extensive upgrades including new switchboards, floodlighting systems and underground services. Our team swiftly resolved the design issues and delivered the full electrical scope, including new switchboards, lighting, pits and cabling, achieving compliance and delivering a cost saving for the client.
Undertaking Large‑Scale Earthworks Across Variable Terrain
The site required significant bulk earthworks due to major variations in existing levels, along with demolition, drainage, subgrade preparation and construction of multiple sports fields to precise sporting standards. Comprehensive earthworks, subgrade replacement, drainage installation and precise field shaping were carried out to meet the required AFL, elite soccer and FIFA specifications, providing high‑performance, fully compliant playing surfaces.
